March 2008: Purchase of all secondary school syllabus books
Thanks to a donation given by American surgeon Michael Tarnoff, assistant professor of surgery at Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, MA, who saw Marie Da Silva's clip on CNN Heroes and has since been extremely supportive of her efforts towards the orphans of Malawi, we bought all teaching syllabus books for our secondary school section. These books are essential because they describe in details the school curriculum for each subject in each class. Teachers constantly refer to the syllabus books to make sure they are covering the whole curriculum and are properly preparing the students to the national exams. Students should also be exposed to these books. Below are a few extracted pages that will give you an idea of the guidelines they propose.

The purchase of the teaching syllabus books is the first step towards turning the Jacaranda secondary school into a high quality, demanding institution. We could not afford to buy them for so long because of lack of funds; it is now done; the quality of education we offer at the Jacaranda school will sharply rise.
