February 16, 2010: Toys donation from Mota-Engil employees

| Mota-Engil employees in Portugal collected during Christmas time toys to be sent to children in Africa, and our 400 students at the Jacaranda School for Orphans had the chance to receive these gifts. The children's smiles spoke for themselves, as you can see on the pictures below. A doll, a toy car, a game board, a puzzle or a ball, each child received a gift, smiled, laughed, and danced of joy... To thank our visitors, the students organized a show; they sang and danced (Beni dance for the boys, a dance mimicking the policemen's parade; Chioda dance for the girls, a traditional dance from the region of Mulanje mountain, in Malawi). The Jacaranda school children live in very difficult conditions at home, with their grandmothers or their aunts and uncles who already take care of many children. Receiving a toy means so much to them. Thank you, Mota-Engil Malawi, for bringing so much joy to the Jacaranda School children, who will cherish these gifts for a very long time. To give our students the chance to be, for a moment, children, simply children, is priceless. |
